 The person should have completed the age of 21 years and must not be over the age of 32 years (General category ) on August 1 of the year of examination.

Given age limits vary with caste reservations:

  • For Other Backward Castes (OBC) , the upper age limit is 35.
  • For Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), the age limit is 37.
  • The upper age limit is flexible with certain persons who are backward but also have other causes such as differently abled.

The number of attempts to give the exams is permitted as follows: 

  • General Category-6
  • OBC category-9
  • ST/SC category-No limit up to 37 years of age.
