The Civil Services exam is considered to be one of the toughest exams in the world.
The ratio of vacancies to the number of applications is very less. In 2017, the number of people who had filled the form was about 10 lacs (approximately). The number of people who appeared in the Prelims for UPSC was about 5 lacs approx (50%of the people who filled the form).
Though this number may seem promising, out of the 5 lac people, the number of people who got selected for the main exams was nearly 14 thousand.
